Trauma Reduces Function; Any trauma, whether major or minor, to your body has an effect across your entire body. A ripple effect, if you will. A trauma causes not only external damage such as bruises, muscle aches, and cuts; but also, internal damage such as tears to connective tissue, ligaments, and tendons, and even misalignments within your skeletal structure. It is not a matter of if trauma will find you, but when.
Gravity Gets Us All;.One force that deteriorates every spine on the planet is gravity. We are always interacting with gravity. It's always pushing down, squishing our bodies against the ground. Gravity is powerful! Forces on the body come in many forms, but it takes only the weight of a dime on a spinal nerve to reduce its function by up to 50%.
Are you adapting to trauma or healing from trauma?
Jon; Jon is a patient at our office. For years he had back pain, neck pain, and in general did not feel well or sleep well. He would wake up 2 or 3 times every night and take Advil to be able to fall back asleep without pain, which led to an inability to function during the day. Like many people, he was treating the symptom of his problem and not getting at the root cause of his problem - the subluxation
Trauma Equals Diminished Health; Trauma almost always causes misalignments throughout the skeletal system. Some misalignments are mild and your body is able to correct them; other times your body is not able to self-correct these misalignments. The inability to self-correct is a good indication that nerve interference is present. Misalignments that are unable to self-correct and are interfering with the nervous system are called subluxations. When nerve interference is present the vertebrae become locked into position; this is an adapting mechanism of the body. All sorts of alert signals can serve as a warning that a subluxation is present. Subluxations are sometimes indicated by pain, but always indicated by overall degeneration of function throughout your body.
Types of Trauma; It's not a matter of if trauma will effect you, it's a matter of when. None of us are immune to the effects trauma can have on the human body. It comes in three specific forms:
Physical traumas like birth, gravity, falls, sports injuries, auto accidents, physical abuse, surgery, insomnia, sitting too long, and physical labor.
Emotional traumas like hectic lifestyle, stress, fear, death of a family member, emotional abuse, depression, and mental illness.
Chemical traumas like medications, environmental toxins, processed foods, toxic beauty products, alcohol, and drugs
Toxins are all around us all the time. Upper Cervical Care is about healing the body from traumas which have already occurred, then keeping the body in a state optimal for combating these future traumas. It's about proactive health, not reactive health!
Unknowingly Living with Trauma; Jon says, "I played football in high school and went on to play football in college. It really did some damage to my neck." He now believes the trauma he sustained playing football damaged his spine, creating a ripple effect of symptoms throughout his body. Like many of us, Jon did not realize lifestyle traumas had caused his pain, nor did he realize that he needed to heal from that trauma.
Upper Cervical Care for Jon; "My first upper cervical adjustment allowed me to sleep all night long without pain. I had been in agony without sleep and rest, and the body needs rest. I thought, if I can sleep like that I'll make a steady diet of Upper Cervical Care. And I did! I've been under Upper Cervical Care since 2007 because it works!"
